Knitting proof…

My beautiful nephew Payton in his cashmere hat!

“I found I could say things with colors that I couldn’t say in any other way-

things that I had no words for.” -Georgia O’Keefe

I’ve found that to be precisely the reason I knit. My very own gift of love, however imperfect, comes straight from my heart and soul into your hands (or on to your head as is the current hat trend). I’ve noticed I really have to be inspired to knit something for someone. It has to sort of unfold in front of me too, and helps me to work out the kinks in my head, while at the same time twisting cashmere/angora/merino/cotton/bamboo into something silky soft and beautiful, something I made to tell you how much you mean to me, in my very own knitty-words.

Consider it my adult version of the pink & red construction paper/doily valentine of old.

Behold my little nephew Payton, the first to make me a real live Auntie! Unfortunately they live in Utah (far too far away, yet too close to be making excuses and so far he’s the one and only to inspire a sweater… :)
