We did it!

I planned to teach Isabelle and a group of her friends to knit this summer. I asked the girls what they thought and had a bunch of enthusiastic girls bouncing around asking” WHEN!!! One of the girls changed her mind, and Isabelle asked if she could learn with her best friend Gabi first.

Yesterday was our first lesson! They did it! They actually watched and learned and DID IT! They both know how to make a slip knot and how to cast on, next Wednesday I might start them knitting!

There was a moment where I thought I’d gotten myself in too deep. I was trying to explain to them how to cast on their stitches… and they looked blank and a little panicked. I said “Here let me see your needles and I’ll cast on for you, we’ll work on that after you get the hang of this for a while” and little Gabi pulled her needles back from me and said “But if you do it for us, how will we ever know how to do it?” so we started from the top, and Oh My Heavenly Days… They did it! They Got it, They can cast on!

I’m so proud…

You have got to be kidding me.

He bought me live hippie fiddle music tickets for my birthday. One of my friend’s said it best…

” I can honestly say that’s probably the only thing I know you don’t like” Sorry…

I feel bad for being a brat, and prefaced my entire diatribe with “Let me start by saying that if anyone said what I’m about to say to you, I would never give them a gift again.”

But.

After this long… he should have some idea… and if he doesn’t… he should beg for help. But no.

So I finally told him I really would rather stay home and bake…than listen to the fiddle while I panic about the hours ticking by.

I’m so horrendously out of line…but I did say:

” I get it. You’re a “husband”. You need a list. You need to know what to buy. Because you clearly cannot be trusted to do it without the list. (Sorry).

Anyone want tickets for two to see Carrie Rodriguez at the Panida Theatre on Friday July 10th?

The last straw? He got really mad at me.

S- I spent my last $20 on those!

J- I would have been a lot happier if you’d just handed me the money. You should know this after 7 years. Jeez.

I ♥ my kids.

My birthday was lovely- full of everything I love most, but I want to share my favorite part of the day.

It was around 10 at night… (I know, bad mom)… and I was giggling with the kids, taking even longer to tuck them in. My phone rang…and it was my little brother Zach. The kids know I don’t get to talk to him much, and I told them I really wanted to take the call, and told them to hang on for a second.

So they got out the face paints.

I really should know better. In fact I should have seen it coming. By the time I got off the phone with my brother, this is what I had.

It’s a birthday cake… and Isabelle was a little offended when Alex told her it looked like she was saying I was 313 years old. The other cheek said I ♥ Mom….but did they stop there? Oh no.

This was on my forearm…the one that was holding the phone and this was on the front of my left leg…. I finally told Zach I had to get off the phone and put my little “Love Graffiti” artists to bed.
