Miss Mermaid, the queen of Halloween

I love Halloween. It’s right up there with Christmas as my favorite holiday. I try to plan for costumes in advance… and this one has been a long time in the making.  I bought New Knits on the Block By Vickie Howell a few years ago and  I’ve always loved the Swish pattern for a mermaid dress up skirt & tank top. It’s always intimidated me as a knitting project- but I forced myself to make it.

It all began with my first yarn purchase on Ravelry! I bought some Knit Picks Shine Worsted in Grass Green. I’ve heard about Knit Picks before, but never tried it. Turns out it’s beautiful and lovely to knit with! I started knitting… and

mertailslowly but surely… the mermaid tail started to grow. By the time the garden frosted, I was making real progress!

My little princess is now a little mermaid!  She used to call them Merbabes when she was little :)

The little soccer star!

Isabelle scored her first goal this season!

It was just as magnificent as we imagined it would be. I saw it fly into the net- and had to start fighting back tears. Holy Moly- it was right up there with learning to ride a bike.

Being a mother is truly my greatest joy.
