I have a cat who likes to bite. Catfish is the nicest kitty- but he’s also a dick if he wants you to stop touching him. He bites you. We all know it. Every now and then, it really pisses my daughter off and I have to remind her… it’s his only defense and if you ignore the warning signs then he WILL bite you to make you leave him alone.
He doesn’t WANT to hurt you, he just wants you to stop.
I have a similar situation… and it brings an issue to the table that I have to whine/complain/rant about.
There are rules… and they’re fucking difficult to navigate when you like someone. You almost need to delete his number or turn your phone off. I cave… I send random texts purely because every aching step I take I’m reminded of him. I flirt with him through the day because he’s entertaining and it’s funny.
I’m also on the receiving end of that sort of affection… and it sucks. Men are twice the text-stalkers that women are. If I sent out half the craziness I receive? I’d be labeled a stalker and run out of town.
B- I wanna be your bad habit, please?
D- You never answer when I call so I have to text you repeatedly? Wanna go get a beer?
and on… and on… and on.
The delicate balance is not sending them at all…because when it finally comes chiming in, it puts a smile on your face instead of an exasperated frown.
The art is in not responding to the ones that make you smile. Something I fail at miserably. All these stupid games to make someone feel insecure are just ridiculous. I refuse to play. I’d rather lose right away than have to learn some stupid texting etiquette or method to play hard to get? That’s just crazy.
The longer you don’t respond- they more they freak out. Go figure.
You haunt your phone because it keeps going off… but it’s not him… it’s the wrong ones. Argh… how fucking annoying is that? Blech… no… and that’s why you don’t text bomb the guy you like. It’s annoying… and he’s sitting around waiting for that girl that never responds, to text him back.
Life was so much more simple without text messaging…
But damn it…I think we can all relate to how nice it is when the right one comes rolling in…
